Well here we are, we’re talking about Lyle Taylor again! The contract rebel has angered the Charlton fan base after announcing that he will not be seeing out his contract in SE7 and will be moving on and many pundits and fans have had their say on this situation, and to say the least, Taylor is certainly a villain in the football world right now.
Can you get 25/25 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!
Now I did say in much earlier articles that if players didn’t return because of the Coronavirus ill understand, however not this, this is turning your back on your promise to the club for your own personal gain.
He has to think of the club, but he is looking the other way which is a very big blow to us, we need him and yet he realises it but won’t act on it for the better, I think many clubs will be looking at his behavior here and will maybe have second thoughts on getting him, however, if they saw his commitment in playing for us maybe a lot more other teams would be interested in him.
He has been attracting attention from Turkish side Galatasaray and they have apparently offered him a big-money move, but we will see if that materialises, I can’t see him moving to Turkey.
These actions have sparked reactions from all over English football and former Celtic attacker Chris Sutton has weighed in on the situation and here is what he had to say to The Scottish Sun
“I can understand both parties and I’m not sitting on the fence here.
“The one thing I can’t understand is he has a contract.
“He is not fulfilling his contract. Are Charlton still paying him? They shouldn’t be paying him.
“And I have to say, if I was in his dressing room, I’d get him up against a wall, I’d pin him up against the wall, he has let his club down.
“He is talking about his future and I get that from a personal point of view but what about his teammates, what happens if they get relegated, what happens to their contracts?
“It is so selfish. He is not seeing through his contract, he is not even playing until the end of June.”
The former Celtic man certainly didn’t hold back on Taylor and I agree with Sutton. He is not fulfilling his contract at Charlton which he signed up to do and it’s only the right thing to do to at least see out his contract until the end of the month, but he’s not going to even do that.
It’s a shame it has had to end this way I do understand Taylor’s stance on things, but it’s certainly not the right thing to be doing-especially at a time like this where we are in dire need for every man to be on top of his game, we need Taylor but were not going to get him and we have to accept it and move on it’s how football is sometimes.
We have some great talent at this club and I’m confident we can pull ourselves out of this mess, we are Charlton and we never give up!

A disgrace in so many ways. Turned his back on club that’s paying him. Refusing to play is the same as being on strike, so I hope we’re not paying him. He’s just turned away from all his colleagues and supporters, obviously doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself. A great player but good riddance. We’ll stay up without him!
