Lee Bowyer explains why 25-year old was left out of Crystal Palace clash

|

Charlton have not done a lot of business this transfer window bringing in just two signings to our extremely depleted squad as the EFL are blocking any transfers from going through until the club has been bought and the proof of funds has been provided to the governing body.

Can you get 30/30 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

One man who has come in recently is Alex Gilbey from MK Dons and he could be a crucial player for us this season as he won player of year at MK Dons two years in a row so he brings a good amount of quality to the side.

However, he was left out of Charlton’s defeat to South-east London rivals Crystal Palace as the Addicks went on to lose 3-0.

Lee Bowyer explained why the new midfielder was left out of the squad yesterday as he spoke to Richard Cawley from The South London Press and here is what the Charlton manager had to say

“Something was wrong with his stomach before the game. He was in the warm up and meant to start and then he had some pain around that area.

“We just didn’t take the risk.

“We’ll find out more and give it a couple of days to settle down.”

I think Gilbey will be a huge player for us this season, he is 25 now and is approaching his prime years so hopefully, he can stay fit and do a good job for us as we search for some success this campaign.
