West Brom have launched a bid to sign Madjid Bougherra according to Skysports.com.

Alan Pardew has already said that he is resigned to losing Bougherra after 18-months at The Valley, and although the Algerian was expected to move to Spain to join Real Betis The Baggies have reportedly made a firm offer for the 25-year-old, which has been accepted.

Rangers, Middlesbrough and Sunderland are other names said to be in the running to sign the defender, who we signed from Sheffield Wednesday in January 2007, but it is The Baggies £2million offer that has been accepted and he will hold talks with the Premier League club on Wednesday.

Also the chances of seeing Portsmouth defender Martin Cranie come to The Valley to boost our defensive ranks seem to be on the up with reports, also from Skysports.com, saying that we are close to tying up a loan deal for the England U21 international.

He is now expected to join us on loan for the season, with Vital QPR also believing this is likely to happen click here.

Losing yet another defender is a major blow but if we can bring in the talented Cranie on loan it will soften this blow slightly.

If Cranie does come in it will have to be as a Central Defender, where Majid’s departure will leave us very weak. With Youga and Basey covering the left back spot we probably don’t need further cover there.

Lets hope with other big clubs on the prowl it will up his price!
Youga can play centre back too, but have to agree possiblr two CB required,,,,,still no sign of a creative midfielder!
Cheerio Magic and thanks for the first goal v Blackpool last year, won me £66 quid!!
