Lee Bowyer reacts to Charlton’s first win after eleven games

|

It’s been a long time coming for us Charlton fans, we finally got our first win after eleven games of draws and defeats it came down till the twelfth game to get those valuable three points and it feels great to get back to winning ways!

Lee Bowyer was also very pleased to get three points after the drought and here is what he had to say after the game

“I can’t believe we’ve gone that long without winning! We’ve been in winning positions too many times and not held on, but thankfully, today we did.

“We went in at half-time edging it, but they changed it at half-time and before we knew it, we were 2-1 down without doing too much wrong.

Bowyer continued

“Fair play to the players. They kept going and going. Their togetherness is unreal. It was great to see Alfie get his goal.

“A draw may have been a fair result, but we’ve had a lot happen to us in recent weeks so you can say we were due it.”

It does feel strange to go that long without winning and under Bowyer we have never gone this long without winning, but we look to be on our way back once again.

Bowyer works this team harder and harder each week and whilst it does accumulate a lot of injuries it can bring the best out in the players when the manager is demanding so much from them.

Once the injured players are back and Bowyer injects that enthusiasm in them again we will be back to how we were playing at the start of the season.

We deserve this win after everything we have had to endure recently, it’s time to take it to the Championship and show this league what we can do!
