Charlton man teases recovery as he takes notes from inspiration

|

It has been a very long time since Lewis Page has played for the first team at Charlton and after he sustained yet another injury in an U23s game where he lasted just 12 minutes before being taken off, it could be a lot longer until we see him again, if ever.

Who was Charlton's first-ever manager?

However the 23-year-old is fighting back against his torrid time with injuries as he posted on Instagram last night that he was taking notes from British Tennis legend Andy Murray.

Murray has brought out a documentary on Amazon Prime called Andy Murray: Resurfacing which follows his journey through injury and how he has fought back against it.

Page’s choice of viewing can only be a good thing for him to serve as an inspiration and also take tips along the way, because Lewis really needs some light at the end of the tunnel.

Page has not featured since the 5-3 defeat to Scunthorpe in October 2018, he lasted just five minutes in that game before being replaced. Since then Page has been struggling with his hamstring.

Lewis’ contract runs out at the end of the season so he will need to recover quickly if he is to have any chance of retaining a contract at Charlton.

He’s a good player and it’s a real shame he has had to go through the number of injuries he has had, some players don’t even have that many injuries in their whole career, but yet the young man is fighting back against everything to come back stronger and I’m sure the Charlton faithful are well behind you!

Good luck Lewis, I hope to see you in a Charlton shirt again soon, but if not I wish you the best wherever you go!

Given the messages on twitter re Page after his latest breakdown, I would not be so sure that the Charlton faithful are behind Pagey. It is unlikely we will see him in a Charlton shirt again, a modern day Cory Gibbs, but I wish him well and hope that he can soon put his hamstring injuries behind him. As well as Andy Murray, he can look to Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard as players who had hamstring issues in the early part of their careers.
