Charlton receive news on loanee who could move to the club on a permanent basis

|

It’s no secret that Northerners Sunderland have been trying to force out winger Aiden McGeady after former Charlton manager Phil Parkinson said that the Irishman has no future at The Stadium of Light which has left some fans bewildered as to what the real reason is behind McGeady’s demise with The Black Cats.

Who was Charlton's first-ever manager?

According to The Northern Echo Charlton are understood to be paying half of McGeady’s wages which are at a rumoured £30,000 a week, but this figure is unconfirmed although he is Sunderland’s highest earner and the money could be something of a reason as to why he’s being forced out.

Another reason could be that McGeady was pictured with teammate Chris Maguire at McDonald’s after their defeat to Gillingham, which sparked outrage from fans and the management in an incident which was touted as a lack of professionalism by Sunderland.

After all of that, he was then sent out on loan to us and Lee Bowyer is a very happy man to gain McGeady’s services, but he will be even happier after hearing that Sunderland are willing to talk with us about bringing him in on a permanent deal if he impresses within the first three months.

Let’s see where this goes, but if Aiden can play to the best of his ability under Bowyer then we have recruited a fantastic player.
