Ben Stays on the Treatment Table

The thoughts going into the international break were that Ben Thatcher should be over his thigh injury after it, but Alan Pardew has concerns that he could still be out for a while yet.

Ben Thatcher got injured at the end of August and hasn’t played since, with his return to fitness being a slow process, but the hopes that he could be available this coming Saturday have been dashed, and Alan Pardew now concedes that he might not even return until after next months international break, Alan Pardew told Kent Online: ‘I doubt whether we`ll have Ben back until after the next international break.

‘Though he’s having regular physiotherapy, the injury is taking longer to clear up than we first thought. The injury continues to nag him and so we’re not going to risk it.’

The old man of the Addicks side, and the once again returning legend Chris Powell has deputised for the Welshman and has not looked out of place whatsoever.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Ben Thatcher’s recovery, or lack of? How much is he being missed, or is the legend filling in very nicely. Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Chris Powell wouldn’t have been expected to play as much as he has would he, but he has done a fine job so when Thatcher is finally fit (whenever this will be) he will have a battle to get back in!

I like Ben and think it was a great signing by AP!!!! Battling to get back in – that’s a good thing!

And now Powell is injured, and a doubt for the next game.

Thatcher is a bit of a thug isn’t he, we’ve seen this over the years but he still has the quality and experience to force his way back in, and when he does he will help us in our promotion quest.

Not so much now though….. 😉 I’m just glad someone [guess who!] gave him the chance after what had happened before.

Many wouldn’t have after what he had done in the past, and being honest I wouldn’t have blamed them as he has done some terrible things in the past that would have seen him locked up had he done it away from a football pitch.
