China skipper Zheng Zhi looks set for a return to English football after an impressive loan stint at The Valley last season.
Birmingham and Newcastle are battling it out in the race to sign the China captain from Shandong Luneng.
ZZ spent four months on loan at Charlton last season, making 12 appearances and scoring against Newcastle in our victory at The Valley.
Birmingham are believed to be the new favourites for the Chinese star after he made it clear he wouldn’t be joining Charlton in the Championship.
Zheng didn’t really get going in our struggling side last season and it remains to be seen whether the Chinese takeaway can do the business in The Premiership.
