The rebuilding of the Charlton squad had been handed another boost with Christian Dailly signing on again to add his experience and quality to the squad for this season.

Dailly was out of contract and could’ve moved on but the 36-year-old has agreed a new one year contract to basically become a new signing, and the defenders a very good signing as he was a star man last season as he scooped the player of the year award.

Phil Parkinson is delighted that the Scottish international is staying, Parkinson told The Official Website: “It’s great news for the club, and we’re very pleased to be able to extend Christian’s contract for the forthcoming season.

“We’re in the middle of making some big changes, and it’s important to keep some continuity in the squad, so Christian’s experience will be invaluable.

“His influence on the team, on and off the pitch, was there for everyone to see last season, and it’s an important signing for us.”

Welcome back Christian and thanks for returning, we’ll need you. I’d think it’s a good bet that it’ll be either him or Gary Doherty that will skipper us this season.

Good news indeed. Dailly should be made skipper. He has the experience and would be respected by his colleagues.

Dailly will be the captain without a doubt, I’m very happy with this as we’re now starting to have what looks like a pretty solid defence.

this is good news…he wasn’t player of the year for nothing…he is class and yes what a good point …he should be captain, and yes looks like the defence is sorted, the midfield is close to sorted, a decent striker now needed and a goalkeeper
