U’s Test For Addicks

Saturday’s defeat at Southampton probably extinguished any flickering hopes Charlton had of automatic promotion.

Phil Parkinson may therefore stick with his five man midfield unit in a bid to ensure the six point gap over visiting Colchester is maintained.

A tight, solid base may be the springboard to hit Colchester, who desperately need to win, on the break.

In Reid, Sam and Racon, the Addicks have enough options to create a chance or two for Nicky Forster and the marauding Bailey.

It is likely to be a tense, nervy evening in South London but it could ultimately end with three valuable points for the hosts.

In all reality the play-offs do look our best bet of promotion now this season but we must get another victory of two to secure this first and foremost. That makes tonight’s game a must win game at all costs but the worrying thing is I’m not entirely sure we’ll win it!
