Itchen To Go Up

A whole-hearted but ultimately unsuccessful performance by the Addicks.

Bailey was thrice thwarted by the inspired Kelvin Davis in the home goal and Forster was also denied when he fired in a fizzing shot on the turn.

A well struck shot just past the half-hour by Michail Antonio was enough to give Saints all three points.

The locals are buoyant about their chances of making the play-offs and a number of teams will now be looking nervously over their shoulders.

Charlton can take plenty of positives into Tuesday’s vital game with Colchester at The Valley.

Yes our keeper was in fine form yesyerday. We could and should have had a penalty though in the first half. A draw might have been a fair result but overall we needed the points and are grateful for them.

Yes you can take a lot from your performance. I would expect you to beat the U’s on Tuesday. I am hoping we can beat Rovers to keep our season going for a bit longer.

If we lose against Colchester tonight and you your slim chances become less so with Huddersfield starting to lick their lips if they win.
