“They’re a group that never say die” – Bowyer Full Of Praise For His Players As They Triumph Against Leeds

|

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer was full of praise for his side after putting on a fantastic defensive display against Leeds United as they triumphed 1-0 against the promotion favourites.

Making sure 19 shots (4 on target) were kept from meeting the back of the Charlton net, it was clear to see that The Addicks have got their defensive priorities straight making it the third clean sheet of the season.

Lee Bowyer spoke with The South London Press in his post-match press conference and he was a happy man after a great Charlton performance

“To beat, for me, the best team in the league is always a great achievement, I thought we deserved it. Obviously, we’re going to be under a bit of pressure at times.

“Everyone that Leeds play are under pressure. How quickly they move the ball, how quickly they break on you.”

Bowyer continued

“I knew it was going to be tough. But we held our own. Tactically, we got it spot on. I think from start to finish, we know we’ve got a group of players who will put their bodies on the line time and time again. I can’t praise them anymore. They’re a group that never say die. Today, to get three points, just shows how far we’ve come as a club.”

How far we have come since the beginning of last season at Sunderland not being able to fill a bench is extraordinary, Bowyer has worked against all the odds and so many obstacles in his time as Charlton manager it’s a miracle he’s still here.

It shows he has the passion for this particular job and with everything you need to do in SE7 to actually get anywhere, passion is a requirement.

We still have a lot of games to go, but if we can keep up these smash and grabs a high finish might be on the cards. We can only hope for now, but in Bowyer We Trust!
