Some surprising news emerges from Charlton

|

This may come as a bit of a surprise for many of us Charlton fans, but according to News Shopper Addicks boss Lee Bowyer may offer veteran midfielder Joe Ledley a new deal despite playing just 45 minutes in a Charlton shirt.

It doesn’t really seem as though Bowyer has any plans for Ledley except for making up the numbers in the squad so this news comes as a surprise that we are even considering extending his contract, but I don’t think something like this will happen it just doesn’t seem logical given our new owners have just come in and I’m sure they will want to bring in players who are fully fit.

Don’t get me wrong Joe Ledley can be a great player, but after the injury, he sustained with Derby last season, can he claw his way back to how he was? I’m telling you now it’s going to be a long road for Ledley to get back from, but if he signs this new contract he is going to need The Valley faithful behind him.

Bowyer also spoke on the situation

“I think it [the deal] finishes on January 6. I think it was for a month.

“At the moment, I’m not sure about the situation. Again, I’ve just been concentrating on the football side of things so that’s something that we’ll have to look at.”

I think any chances of Joe getting a contract are dead and buried but we have seen more surprising things happen at The Valley in recent years.
