Skipper Pearce on his defensive rival, Naby Sarr

|

Jason Pearce played out an excellent performance on Tuesday night, but it was at the expense of very in-form centre-back Naby Sarr, who Jason Pearce believe does not deserve to be dropped. Peacey is the captain and sometimes his presence is needed on the pitch, it was defiantly needed against Wycombe as Jason is better in physical encounters and with players like Akinfenwa at Wycombe’s disposal I think Lee Bowyer made the right decision in putting Pearce ahead of Sarr.

Jason Pearce spoke with the News Shopper about Naby Sarr and here is what he had to say

“He doesn’t deserve to be dropped, I’m an honest person, honest with myself. I got injured, Naby got an opportunity and he’s taken it. I obviously want to play, it’s frustrating but it’s a team game, he’s done well and I support him and Pat all the time. I got my opportunity today, felt like I took it, and we’ll just see what the manager does at the weekend. If I get called upon I’ll always do my best. I’m captain of the club, everyone knows what I’m about.”

Spoken like a true captain, he defiantly is looking at this in a very mature way and its little things like that show us why Bowyer chose Pearce as the club captain, it’s because he is mature enough and passionate enough to take on such a role within the club and it’s important to have someone level-headed to lead the team.

He is right though Naby Sarr does not deserve to be dropped, but whenever one of them is better at a certain thing than the other, then in certain situations one or the other will get dropped even if it does look like a bit of a dodge choice, Bowyer always knows best.
