Skipper Going Nowhere

Phil Parkinson has promised us that Nicky Bailey isn’t going to be leaving Charlton.

Addicks skipper Bailey continues to be linked with various Championship clubs but The Addicks boss has no intentions of selling the 25-year-old, Parkinson told The Official Website: “Nicky’s not going anywhere.

“What message would that send to our supporters? Nick’s our captain and what a great achievement it would be if Nicky Bailey led this club back into the Championship.”

The midfielder is targeting 20 goals this season and his goal in the win over Wycombe on Saturday took him to 10 in total but it’s not just his goals that makes Parkinson so keen to keep Bailey it’s his all-round game, Parkinson added: “Players like that are really difficult to find. It’s not just that, though, it’s his all-round game.”

If we’ve got not need to sell Bailey then why should we? Parkinson is right it would certainly convey the wrong message and that isn’t what we want (or need) at this point in time is it!

Sometimes you get offers that you just can’t refuse but if we have no need to sell Bailey then why should we? It’ll certainly make us weaker if we do!
