Sarr deserves all the praise

|

Naby Sarr has been a real surprise this season, he has shown he does have the quality behind him and has quickly become a fan-favourite this term. He is constantly giving the Charlton fans great performances and he could well be up there for player of the season if Lyle Taylor starts to fall off which we all hope he don’t as he showed signs of that against Blackpool, it was his first game without Karlan Grant and the dent up top really showed as our attack faltered in the final third.

When he first came here he was not a great player what so ever, to be honest we were expecting him to be decent seeing as he came from Lyon and Sporting Lisbon, but he just didn’t show the quality he himself knew he had. Many obscene jokes about him and Katrien Miere ensued as the protest period brought out a lot of negativities around the club.

Now it’s 2019 and Naby Sarr has taken his chance by the horns as he came in for cover for Jason Pearce and now it looks like Peacey is going to have his work cut out for him when he returns to action which is expected this Saturday against AFC Wimbledon. Might even be Bauer getting the drop as his contract negotiations continue on.

Fellow team-mate and left-back partner Ben Purrington spoke with the club’s website about Sarr and he had this to say

“You know what you’re getting from Naby. He’s strong, wins everything in the air, he’s good on the ball, steps out with it well and he talks to me.

“It’s a pleasure to have him to my right-hand side in the middle. I feel like we get on well and we have a good little partnership.”

Naby is one of those that always seem to be happy, he is always smiling and it sounds like he gets on well with all of his team-mates too. It is a pleasure to have him in this team right now, if his positiveness can rub off on the other players then we can defiantly go into every game knowing we are going to win it. Let’s hope it happens!
