“It’s never a nice place to go” Defender looks ahead to Wimbledon

|

Ben Purrington has been decent since he made the switch from AFC Wimbledon to Charlton, he has done everything we need him to, although we could push him a bit harder into those attacking areas. He did show some promise in those areas on Saturday, but the crosses were not up to scratch and that something as a left-back he needs to work on.

Of course, we will be going off to south-west London this weekend and ahead if the game Ben ‘the cat’ Purrington spoke with News Shopper, here’s what he had to say

“It’s never a nice place to go, we’ll take nothing for granted when we go there.

“It’s a small pitch. It’ll be a tough game, long ball at times. The pitch is alright to be fair, you can pass it around, but it’s a very tight pitch. We’ll have to adapt to that.

“They’re not a bad side and they’re a good group of lads there.”

The Wimbledon game should an easy one, but I won’t put it past Charlton to make it hard for themselves. We have two of their former players, Lyle Taylor and of course Ben Purrington who played thirty times for them this season so I think we should have one up on them as we have two players that know the team well and with Wimbledon having a narrow pitch I think Ben’s experience playing at Kingsmeadow will be invaluable to us and hopefully he can help us on to three points, we really can’t afford to drop points in this one.

Ben continued to highlight how he feels at Charlton and how he was at Wimbledon

“I really enjoyed my time there and they’ve had a great cup run.

“But, I’m loving it at Charlton. It’s a great club.

“There’s a good feel around the place, being at the top of the league. Good players. All the staff are friendly. I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”

Glad to hear he is happy here, times are getting harder right now and knowing that the players are happy and they want to get through this is good, but we can’t just keep saying we want to get back on a winning run we have to go out there on the pitch and make sure we go on a decent run.
