Oztumer to Charlton picks up speed as we look at other potential transfer targets

|

The word on Erhun Oztumer’s potential move to Charlton has started to really pick up speed, the Bolton playmaker is one of those players who have still not been paid and he can apparently put in a 14-day notice and leave Wanderers on a free which means we will sign him in two weeks if done today.

THE FACTS

It is evident that no one wants to play for Bolton right now and they will do anything in their power to get some money from somewhere to keep the club alive as they move into another season of uncertainty.

This gives us the chance to sign two targets we have had our eyes on which is, of course, Oztumer and 25-year-old goalkeeper Remi Matthews who made 19 appearances for Wanderers last season. We could also re-sign former loanee Ben Amos, I think that he will really give Dillon something to work against, if we do indeed sign Amos then he has to know he won’t be first-choice at least from the start and then that way it will give both keepers motivation to get even better.

MY OPINION

We are in desperate need of a player like Oztumer so we are doing the right thing in pursuing him, Ben Amos or Remi Matthews, on the other hand, could be a decent back-up for Dills, but we could raid Bolton for a few other players too.

Okay, they did not do well last season, but can you blame them? No one wanted to play for the club, the players refused to play the last two games of the season because of unpaid wages and it’s a situation that a few clubs find themselves in, unfortunately. I have been looking into a few of the Bolton players and I think Will Buckley could be a fairly decent signing as well. He is a winger so he may not be in Bowyer’s plans as much as Oztumer would, but he has experience in the Championship and in the Premier League also.

Making a pursuit of Jason Lowe would also be a pretty decent shout, he is a defensive midfielder and could serve as a competent replacement for Krystian Bielik. I’m still holding out hope that Bielik would like to come back for another loan spell, but with his performances last season he may be creeping into the Arsenal first team.
