One Defeat in Nine isn’t Bad

The Addicks suffered their first defeat in nine Championship matches at the weekend against Wolves. Defeat is bad at anytime, but this is by no means the worst thing that could have happened.

Some would blame the international break, but this is not really an excuse for me, in fact I don’t feel that there should be any. We had chances to have earned at least a point, but going to Molineux to face Wolves is never an easy task. They will be there or thereabouts when the season ends, so a point would have been preferable against a promotion rival defeat is not as bad as it could have been, even more so when you take into account some of the other results at the weekend. Watford winning meant they extended their lead, but as pointed out within the forum by someone they have stern challenges to come.

Had the Addicks lost at the Valley that would have been different, defeats on the road (as much as we don’t want to see these) should they come to teams like Wolves this will not be so bad, but we can’t afford too many. We now return to the Valley with our next two games, and both are winnable against Plymouth and QPR. My minimum aim will be four points, but many others within the forum (get involved with the debate on this peps!) are targeting six out of six.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on the importance (or not) of the Wolves defeat? And what are you expecting from the next two home games? Share these feelings below so we can discuss them.

Defeat to Wolves was bad, but it’s by no means fatal is it. I can’t stress enough that one defeat in nine in a league in which quite litterally anyone could be anyone else is not bad going. Watford might have won, but they’ve got challenges ahead.

I can’t say it really bothered me at all this weekend that we lost! What I’ve seen, we looked okay. Maybe highlight lie though? LOL It certainly isn’t the end of the world is it?

it always bothers me when we lose, and when we draw, but i still am right behind the coach, the team, and the board..it is a defeat, i understand what the author is saying…i like it that he mentions me me me me me…sorry, the m and e keys got stuck…..always target a win, but win draw win is promotion pace…win win win is better tho.

lets not forget plymouth are only 2pts behind us…we have to beat the teams close to us, they are all 6pointers when its this close.

Yes it always bothers me too, but you have to put it into perspective don’t you, one defeat in nine is good in anyones book isn’t it.

Two defeats now – but it’s not bad – jesus what are you all expecting????? An Arsenal? Not to lose every game? You are so cheeky Alex, LOL 😉

Two defeats in ten still isn’t bad, but its not great is it. This run of defeats has to end this weekend, and I don’t mean with a point, that won’t be good enough, we need all three.
