Deadline Day – The Verdict

|

I think most of us were expecting a lot from this final day of the 2019 January transfer window, after putting pen to paper on three decent enough signings in Jonny Williams, Ben Purrington and Chris Maxwell this latest and last signing in January came as a bit of a shock to all of us and not in a good way. The new signing is 28-year-old Josh Parker from Gillingham and guesses what, he’s not even a striker he’s a winger! How did we get ourselves into this situation!

Now we needed someone who is a proven goal scorer or at least on their way to being that with the guidance of Lyle Taylor most strikers can become just that. Now I’m not one to judge a player before he’s even played for us and I’m not going to do that, although I am a bit worried about his goalscoring record in the fact that for the beginning of his career it’s almost non-existent. Yes, he has got more goals at this end of his career than the other, but it’s still not much he’s only scored four this season!

Compared to what we did have this seems like a massive step down, but I’ve got my faith in him to do well and I really hope he proves all the doubters wrong because any player that we bring in has the potential to be great under Bowyer.

This second half of the season is going to be a very hard one, but I think we can still prove everyone wrong and make it to the Championship if we all stick together with hope. Fans, players, management we all need to stick together if we’re going to come out the other end on top!
