Could the Oztumer deal be back on after the latest news?

|

A couple of months ago I got information about Erhun Oztumer supposedly signing for Charlton. Obviously, time has gone by and we have still heard nothing more on the matter. Until today.

The 5 foot 3 playmaker has been released from Bolton Wanderers today after a court hearing yesterday ordered Bolton to release him from his contract. The court’s decision has left Bolton with just five senior players in the squad, one of which is Remi Matthews who we were linked within the summer and former Charlton keeper Ben Alnwick.

Whilst Lee Bowyer is probably not looking to add Oztumer to his squad, the interest we had there for him in pre-season was strong and he even came into Sparrows Lane for a medical which he passed, but Bolton just wouldn’t let him go.

You could easily compare this situation to what happened on deadline day at the end of January this year. Erhun came in last minute and he was then told to go back to Bolton as they couldn’t find a replacement for him in time.

It has been a torrid time for him over the last season, but personally I would like to see him at Charlton, he will provide us with some brilliant long shots which is something that I haven’t much of at Charlton, however, it all rests on what Bowyer, Gallen and the owner want. Time will tell, but I’m sure something will be announced in due course.
