Charlton secure their second summer signing

|

Charlton have today confirmed that Hearts striker Conor Washington has joined the Addicks on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, making him Charlton’s second signing of the summer.

Who is this?

Conor Washington and Alex Gilbey were previously blocked by the EFL but have now put pen to paper on their Addicks deals.

The 28-year old was wanted by Charlton last summer when he left Sheffield United, but he ended up going for Hearts who have now been relegated from the Scottish Premier League.

Washington has not had the eye for goal in a while, with just three goals in his last thirty league games which is not exactly what we are looking for, but I think Bowyer will be eyeing up his time at Peterborough United in League One as the main factor of his signing.

Conor Washington gave his first interview as a Charlton player and here is what he had to say

“It’s absolutely brilliant to be here, I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

“I’ve seen a lot of Charlton over the last few years and with the manager being the way he is, it looks like a great project to be a part of.

“It’s a great stadium, I’ve seen it on the television a few times and I’m really looking forward to playing here. The pitch is nice and big which is good for me, I love running in behind, trying to score goals. Hopefully I can add that in the mix and get us up the league.”

I am a little concerned about this signing, I’m just not sure if he has the goals in him that we desperately need, but I could be proved wrong, he has a decent record in this league and could give us about 15 goals this season.

I sure hope my gut feeling is wrong about him, but nevertheless welcome to Charlton Conor and I hope you have a great stay at this great club!
