Charlton receive a much needed boost ahead of season restart

|

The Addicks have already lost out on three players as the season heads for a restart as Lyle Taylor, Chris Solly and David Davis have all refused to play for Charlton again, however, The Addicks have received a boost as on loan Sam Field will be returning to help Charlton out of this relegation battle.

Can You Name These Current Charlton Academy Players? I bet you can’t but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

Field has not featured for Charlton since the Bristol City game in October where he was taken off injured which took him out of play for the foreseeable future, but he is now ready to play for Charlton again.

This is the kind of positivity we need after the recent news emerged that Lyle Taylor will not be returning and as we all know that is a huge blow, he is still contracted at the club and I think he should at least play out the last couple games of his contract if he is a true professional like Sam Field.

Sam Field spoke to the club’s website and here is what he had to say

“I’m delighted [to be back], I’m upset that it has taken so long but I’m happy we’re there now and hopefully I can contribute again to the team, I’m really looking forward to it.

“The standard coming back the last couple of days, I’ve been really impressed with the standards of possession. If we play like we have in the past couple of days in training I see no problems at all.”

Field continued

“I want to get on the pitch. It’s a shame because [when the injury happened] I felt I had just started to get going.

“Obviously being at West Brom for such a long time it took me a couple of weeks to get used to the whole change, I just felt I was getting my feet on the floor and if it meant the manager wanted me to come on for five, 10 minutes then that was time on the pitch.

“For the next nine games I want to get involved as much as possible in whatever way Bow and his staff want to play me. I just want to make sure I am fit and available for them. I’d like to think I’ve got stuff to offer.”

Field is certainly excited to get back out on that Valley turf and after seeing his loyalty and desire to actually play for Charlton I salute the 22-year-old and his service will never be forgotten.

I’m sure he can deliver out on the pitch, we have seen his quality shine before, but with the situation we are in now we have to see that quality in every single game from here on out.
