Charlton man on his “very special moment”

|

Since he has come in Alfie Doughty has been a shining star within a bleak time for the club this season, with injuries plaguing the thin enough squad we already have, it’s great that players like Alfie have stepped up and provided the goods.

He may only be 20-years old but he is certainly making an impression on Charlton fans and he looks like he will be the next big thing to come out of the Charlton Acadamy.

Speaking after his first goal for the club Alfie had this to say

“It’s very special [to score his first goal], I’ll take it – a little tap in at the back post. I’m buzzing.

“As soon as I saw the keeper had not picked it up I just thought ‘I need to get there’. I sprinted quickly and managed to get there in the end. It fell to me and luckily I was there.

“I’m grateful to have this opportunity and I’m just trying to take it with both hands, to do the best I can. Today just topped it off with a win after a tough week. To finish with a win on Boxing Day, you can’t really beat it.”

He must be buzzing with enthusiasm after getting his first goal for the club, well done Alfie you took it well!

I love his quick movement, the speed coming from his runs is insane at times and the game feels just that little bit more exciting with him on the pitch.

He just needs to get more first-team football in him and he will grow although Bowyer and the backroom staff need to know how to control him in terms of how much game time he should be comfortable with at this young age, but I have no doubt that Bowyer and co will work their magic on Alfie who has all the potential in the world.
