Can we keep hold of Jonny Williams?

|

THE FACTS

Jonny Williams has attracted interest from Swansea City and it seems he is a little bit keen on a move to south-west Wales which is his national team and playing for a side like Swansea could see his chances of International football increase. A new contract is obviously very possible for Jonny right now, he has said that he enjoys his time at Charlton, but when an opportunity to go to Wales comes knocking it’s going to be hard for him to turn it down.

Talking to BBC Sport Jonny had this to say about his future

“I always seem to get linked, Swansea has always been a team that play nice football and they’ve been great to watch. You never know. I haven’t spoken with my agent yet – we’ll have a sit down over the next few days and see what’s next for me. For once my destiny is in my own hands really, I’m a free agent.”

“It’s got to be right for me. I want to go somewhere and play every week and be a part of something, Lee Bowyer took me to Charlton and gave me the opportunity and it was a bit of a fairy-tale ending and an amazing feeling. To be part of something special again and just enjoying my football really and that will give me a chance to get back in the Wales fold as well.”

MY OPINION

I think it would be important to keep hold of Jonny, he is a great attacking midfielder and with Aribo out of contract also we need to keep hold of as many of our central midfielders as possible because they have been a huge part of this season, yes we have had a couple on loan, but if we can find some players who replicate what Cullen and Bielik have done this season then we won’t have much to worry about.

The way he changed the game at Wembley was also fantastic, he should be given a new contract on that performance alone.
