Bowyer piles on praise for 25-year-old and how the international break will help us

Jake Forster-Caskey has been the subject of some criticism this season after coming back from a season out with an ACL injury, but yesterday JFC made it clear that he has a point to prove and shut up his critics.

He had a great performance yesterday, what made it even more stunning is that he was playing as a left-wing back which was the position he was occupying when Ben Purrington came off injured against Swansea and he did very well playing out of position and was a surprise performer against a rich Fulham side.

Lee Bowyer praised his the 25-year-old after a great outing at Fulham, he spoke with The News Shopper after Saturday’s draw and started off with complimenting Jake’s pass over to Chris Solly which led to a Connor Gallagher strike

“What a pass! It wasn’t just a hopeful cross, he’s picked him out.

“Solly had the awareness to nod it down for Conor arriving late to the box again, which we knew would cause them problems.

“Our two left-backs are injured, we had to change it up.

“I think it’s the first time he’s ever played there, and he looked well.

“He’s not played much but he’s worked on his fitness and he’ll get there.”

With two weeks to recharge the batteries, The Addicks have been relishing a break as Ben Purrington and Lewis Page are both out injured which means no left-backs, although JFC did well in a position he has never played in before so it looks like we now have extra cover there.

Bowyer also spoke about the injuries and how the international break will help

“We’ve got seven injuries and need time to get them back.

“Another two weeks will have gone past for Lyle.

“Hopefully by the time it’s over he may be out of the brace.

“We’ve got no left-backs, both injured, so hopefully Ben will be back before the next game against Derby.

“It’ll also give the lads who go Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday time to recharge.”

This international break is going to be vital towards the next period of games, the next international break with be 16th of November and then there won’t be another until March 28th so the next two in terms of recovery are going to be huge for us!
