Player Ratings from Charlton’s nail-biting draw with Fulham

|

Charlton played out an intense and entertaining 2-2 draw with London rivals Fulham, but a controversial goal from Aleksander Mitrovic had the away fans feeling cheated of the three points.

Conor Gallagher’s fourth goal of the season gave the Addicks the lead before half time. Ivan Cavaleiro’s great strike drew the Cottagers level, but Macauley Bonne responded immediately with a looping header over Bettinelli. Mitrovic drew the hosts level again at 63 minutes in very controversial fashion, which ultimately meant that the points were shared at Craven Cottage.

Here are my player ratings of the Charlton team after yesterday result:

Dillon Phillips – 8

Despite letting in two goals he was outstanding in between the sticks. He pulled off some unbelievable saves throughout the game, especially in the last 25 minutes where he kept us in the game. That was his performance of the season so far.

Chris Solly – 8

Instrumental performance from the right back. He caused Cavaleiro problems in the first half and grabbed an assist by heading it down well for Gallagher. Great effort from Chris.

Tom Lockyer – 6

Didn’t really see much from him yesterday. Made a couple tackles but it was quite a quiet game from the Welsh international.

Jason Pearce – 7

Solid display at the back from Pearce. The no-nonsense centre back didn’t mess about and got the ball away from goal. Put in some crunching challenges and caused the Fulham attackers problems.

Naby Sarr – 5

Like Tom he had a quiet game. Didn’t see him do too much and he got beat too easily by Cavaleiro for his goal.

Jake Forster-Caskey – 7

The midfielder occupied left-wing-back, an unnatural position for him, but he was superb. Swung the ball in the ball for Solly’s assist and drove forward really well. A good game for Jake, maybe we’ll be seeing more of him with Purrington out injured.

Darren Pratley – 9

He was absolutely outstanding. Was a nightmare for the Fulham attackers as he disposed of their crosses and set-pieces. Inspirational performance from Charlton’s unsung hero. Man Of The Match.

Josh Cullen – 7

Commanded the midfield alongside Gallagher yet again. Passing was great and got stuck in with some tackles. Very good performance.

Conor Gallagher – 8

I honestly think this kid is possessed! I don’t think he’s put in a bad performance this season. His goal was fantastic and he was darting around the field causing Fulham problems.

Jonny Williams – 7

One of, if not the most creative player on the pitch throughout the game. He breezed past Fulham players with great feet and speed and nearly scored when Cullen put him through, only for Bettinelli to pull off a good save. Not sure why he came off in the second half, but it was a great display from him.

Macauley Bonne – 7

If you’d have said at the start of the season that Macauley Bonne, the striker we signed for £200,000 from Leyton Orient, would be scoring goals against Leeds and Fulham in the Championship, I would have laughed at you! What a performance from the lad. His work ethic was brilliant and his goal was superb, great header. Let’s hope he keeps this up!

Subs

 Jonathan Leko – 6

Replaced Williams in the second half and put in a good performance off the bench. Nearly scored with a beautiful effort outside the box that was going to fly in the top corner, only for Bettinelli to pull of a brilliant save. A much better display from Jonathan.

Sam Field – N/A

Wasn’t on the pitch long enough to rate him fairly.

Adam Matthews – N/A

Like Sam, he wasn’t on the pitch very long.
