A huge Charlton blow gets it’s reasoning

|

Charlton received one hell of a bombshell in the last few days as star striker Lyle Taylor told Lee Bowyer that he will not be returning to play for Charlton to the dismay of both the management and fans alike.

Can you get 25/25 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

He has not got a good reception on this it has to be said, but as we are just football fans I don’t think we can ever really understand what goes on in their heads, however, Taylor has tried his best to make people understand why he will not be playing for Charlton again as he explains how his knee injury is causing most of the anxiety for him.

Speaking with Sky Sports Taylor had this to say

“I’ve sat in my living room staring at a blank TV screen for hours on end these last few weeks, I’ve not eaten or slept properly. I’ve been up ’til 5am listening to the birds chirping thinking about it.

“Then I finally came to the decision together with the manager that he has openly spoken about. He said to me “Lyle I can see how cut up this has made you”. But this is a time nobody has had to deal with before – lockdown has been difficult for everyone.

“I’m gutted at the way it’s finishing, but I don’t expect people to care. I know that once the damage is done it’s irreparable and I don’t really expect any sympathy.

Taylor continued on the reasoning why he will not be playing for Charlton again

“We are the first ones able to go back so that’s difficult for footballers and football clubs. My reasons and concerns stem from my knee injury – it plays on the mind.

“It makes me think what would happen if I had an injury now that threatened the rest of my career. I’ll be honest with you, it scared the life out of me.

“That’s my honest reasoning. I know it won’t sit well with people but it’s been a very hard decision to make.

“I want to play to keep this team in the league; we have worked so hard to get here. But there is something in the back of my head that says if you get a serious injury the chance you have worked and dreamed of since you were six-years-old is gone. I’m not 26 or 27 – I’m 30 years old. The way I play, it puts me in positions that I could get seriously injured at any time.”

Lyle has been a great servant to Charlton and I do thank him for being a great player for us, it’s so unfortunate it had to end this way it really does boil my blood that this is the way it is.

I want to understand Lyle as much as possible, but everything that has happened in the last few months and with his age and injury doubts I can see why he wants to leave, he needs stability as much as what we do, but it looks like Lyle is on his way to getting that.

Only thing is he has a contract to run down and he should complete it even if it is just a couple games for Charlton.

I wish him all the best for the future.

I love the lad as a player, injuries are part and parcel of a footballers life he could play his first game for his new team and get an injury that ends his career , still has a contract even if he plays just to the end of his contract, as it is he has let down L B his club and worse of all his team mates .

Screw wishing him all the best , he’s under contract so therefore in breach of it , we’ve created this life changing opportunity for him , and this is our thank you , i hope he gets the life changing injury he deserves , stop calling him a great , he’s not , just another selfish baller , good riddance
