Very positive news surrounding Bowyer and the coaching staff

|

Finally, some positive news has been brought out surrounding Bowyer’s contract, also there has been a mention of the coaching staffs position in the club and it all seems positive. So, when all was looking slightly down the hopes of everyone is about to be brought right back up again with some good news to report.

Lee Bowyer spoke with the News Shopper about his talk with Lieven De Turck this morning and although it was a short meeting, all seems positive

“I’ve just spoken to Lieven as I walked in this morning, we had a quick five-minute meeting, he asked what I thought of the offer. They know what I expect, so I’m sure we’ll get there, it may take a bit of time, it’s taken this long so a couple more weeks won’t hurt. It was a good positive conversation and he said he wants myself and the staff to stay, and I said – ‘likewise,’ so it was a positive conversation.”

That is exactly what we all wanted to hear surrounding coaching staff contracts, because not only has Lee Bowyer done a great job, Johnnie Jackson and Andy Marshall have also been grinding it out with Bowyer and it’s no doubt that Lee wouldn’t have been able to do the job he has been doing without those two helping him out.

Johnnie Jackson has been the biggest legend for Charlton of recent times and to see he will be offered a new contract at the club is amazing news to hear. It is obvious that Jacko has a real influence over Charlton right now and being alongside Lee Bowyer who started his professional career with Charlton, puts the influence they both have over the team in real good shape.

Bowyer continued

“For me, I just want to concentrate on what we are doing here, it’s so much more important than my contract. We want to keep on winning games and see where we are at the end of the season, whether it’s promotion or playoffs, the contract will sort itself out. Promotion is more important, everyone knows I love the club, when it gets sorted I don’t know, but my focus is winning games.”

Just hearing that he loves the club restores so much more confidence in Bowyer and the rest of the team staying after the season is finished. It’s so good to finally have a coaching team that knows what they’re doing and it’s also fantastic to hear that they have the passion behind them for Charlton as well.
