Charlton beat Blackpool 2-1 at The Valley on Saturday. Following a slow start, goals from Johnnie Jackson and Scott Wagstaff gave the Addicks a two goal advantage at the break. Former Charlton loanee, Nathan Eccleston, netted a consolation for the Seasiders late on.

Blackpool became the second side to visit The Valley this season who had lost their manager the day before the match. Ironically, Michael Appleton left Blackpool to join Blackburn, the other team to part company with their manager the day before they played Charlton.

The Addicks travel to Ewood Park on Saturday for the return fixture with Appleton’s Blackburn. Relegated from the Premier League last season, Blackburn’s undersoil heating should ensure the match goes ahead, despite this week’s Arctic conditions.

Addicks fans will be keeping an eye on tonight’s FA Cup replays. If Sheffield Wednesday win at Milton Keynes, their match at The Valley on 26 January will be postponed, as that is the day the fourth round ties are played.

If Hull win at Leyton Orient, they will face Barnsley in the fourth round. If the Tigers beat their Yorkshire rivals, their fifth round match will be scheduled for 16 February, when they are due to entertain the Addicks.
