The Addicks will bid to become the first team since Christmas to defeat Huddersfield, as the visitors defend an unbeaten streak of 20 games.

The Terriers are a big, quick side, ideally suited to being successful at this level. They are vying with Southampton for the second automatic spot and will have been delighted to see Rochdale beat the Saints in midweek.

They trail Nigel Adkins’ side on goal difference, having played a game more. With Southampton looking a sound bet to beat Bristol Rovers at St Mary’s, Lee Clarke will be anxious for his side to pick up the three points at The Valley.

John Sullivan was impressive at Oldham and Chris Powell wants to extend his loan – which ends after the match – until the end of the season.

Christian Dailly picked up a five match ban for his red card at Oldham, which will see him miss the rest of the season. Powell will have to choose between Jon Fortune and Miguel Llera as Gary Doherty’s partner.

Michael Stewart is set to continue in the centre of midfield, with Powell trying to convince the former Manchester United starlet to stay at The Valley next season.

Bradley Wright-Phillips and Paul Benson are expected to continue in tandem up front. Joe Anyinsah suffered another set back in training prior to the Oldham game while Dean Parrett is still struggling with a hamstring problem.

Powell may send this side out:

Sullivan; Solly, Doherty, Fortune, Bessone; Wagstaff, Semedo, Stewart, Racon; Benson, Wright-Phillips.

Subs: Gough, Francis, Llera, McCormack, Reid, Eccleston, Nouble.

Ollie Langford from the West Midlands will be the man in charge.

On form, there can only be one winner. A side defending a 20 match unbeaten record against one that has managed just one win in the the last 14. Football is a funny old game as they say and surprises are common place.

Normally, at the business end of the season, the top teams tend to get the results they need and Powell will be delighted if his team can share the spoils.
