Addicks defender Chris Powell looks like being ruled out for up to three weeks.

How long has Chris Powell been described as a veteran, but at 38 he very much is, but he is as good as ever, even if he isn’t quite as mobile as he once was. Well the veteran picked up an ankle injury against Wolves last Saturday, and after initially trying to run it off he had to eventually come off. Alan Pardew told the Addicks website: ‘Any injury to a 38-year-old is going to be serious, because they don’t recover that quickly.

‘But his ankle looks like keeping him out for two or three weeks.’

With Ben Thatcher out injured, and not likely back anytime soon and Cory Gibbs looking like cruelly being ruled out for the season Alan Pardew is short of left back options now, but he is sure we will manage: ‘We’ve been unlucky in that we’ve lost Cory Gibbs and Ben Thatcher, so we’ve lost all three of them for the immediate future, which is disappointing. We have to deal with that, and hopefully the squad can cope,’ Alan Pardew added.

A defensive reshuffle will now be needed, but this is what you have a squad of players for isn’t it.
