Peter Varney gives fans a fresh update on the takeover of Charlton

|

Charlton’s ownership worries have been numbed down a little bit of late with the introduction of Paul Elliott who has bought East Street Investments, he has already paid up the wages for last month and everything on paper looks good so far, but fans are still not happy with the fact that ESI are still running the club and that we are being run by an unknown businessman [Elliott] are of course raising concerns with the community.

However, there is still hope on the horizon and it comes in the form of Peter Varney who is an ex-Charlton chief executive and a lifelong fan.

Every time he has come to Charlton he has brought success and he is someone you can trust with this club who has fallen on dire times once again.

Peter Varney has today revealed that he and Andrew Barclay were involved in more talks with Paul Elliott and Chris Farnell today and revealed that they were ‘constructive talks’ and that Farnell and Elliott are ‘considering their position further’ so hopefully we could be seeing Varney step in as chairman again which is something the fans would love.

It does seem like things are going the right way so far, but the longer this lasts the more damage that will be done to Charlton if Elliott is not who he says he is, as we all know we have struggled in that position before and with ESI’s name still firmly in the Charlton frame, the fans have every right to worry.

Let’s just hope that our troubles are not far from being over.
