Macauley Bonne is to take tips from Arsenal superstars to help Charlton survive the drop

|

One man who has all the pressure on his shoulders upfront is none other than Charlton striker Macauley Bonne as he has to endure a lot of preparation to come up with the quality and the goals that Lyle Taylor delivered, we need that quality to shine now more than ever.

Can you get 31/31 on this Charlton player of the year quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who won player of the year in 2020?

Rest Assured the Zimbabwean international is on the case as he aims to hit the heights with Charlton by helping us with the relegation battle that lies ahead and this could be his moment to cement himself as the main striker at the club.

After Charlton’s 6-0 battering by Arsenal Bonne has taken some experience from that match to put into his game in the Championship, he has been looking at their strike force of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Bonne spoke with The Sun about taking tips from Arsenal’s top players and here is what he had to say

“I watched Arsenal’s strikers and I saw why they are a level above.

“The one thing I really noticed from Aubameyang and Lacazette is they don’t waste any energy. They have an on and off switch.

“They can walk around watching the ball for two minutes but when it comes to them, ‘It’s bang, 100-miles an hour and the ball is in the back of the net’.

“I’ve been known to waste energy. I might run around like a headless chicken but I’m trying to make sure I’m working hard.

“Now I’ve realised it’s something I don’t always have to do. After watching them, I need to learn and save as much energy as I’ve got.”

Do you think Macaulay Bonne can replace Lyle Taylor?

Yes

No

That energy preserving could be vital in the final stages of matches, we need that burst of energy in the final quarter of games as it feels like we always switch off in the last 20 minutes or so and it’s something Bowyer needs to work on because we used to be the ones scoring those goals late in the game and now it’s changed hands.

It is an unforgiving league, but if Bonne can take some of that Premier League experience he has taken from Aubameyang and Lacazette and apply it in to his game then we can be an unforgiving team.

Maybe that 6-0 loss wasn’t so much of a loss after all? Only time will tell.
