Well we have all been waiting patiently for this update(some a lot less than others) and finally, we have got it and it’s now been confirmed that Paul Elliott is now the new owner of  East Street Investments.

Who is this?

In a statement released by the club this morning, the Manchester-based businessman outlined his need to get the club back into a stable position financially and he says that “we need the passion from the fans” ahead of the season restart, and as much as I want to back this new face in Charlton I’m reserved on my stance right now.

In the club’s statement, the Hammersmith-born Elliott had this to say

“On behalf of the consortium I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to take ownership of Charlton Athletic. I recognise this club means so much to its fans and I will take the responsibility very seriously.

“I will be looking to ensure the stability of the club moving forward so we can look to put behind us the recent boardroom events and concentrate on building a unified boardroom and a unified football club.

“I know that this club has passionate fans and we will need every bit of that passion, together with determination and hard work of everyone at the club as we restart this season. Our immediate focus will be on getting behind the team and the Manager and giving ourselves the best opportunity of staying in the Championship.”

Are you happy with the latest takeover news?

Yes

No

I really hope this guy is genuine, but with his history mainly in Manchester, I just guarantee he’s got links with Matt Southall, I’m not saying he actually has, but with the luck we get these days I really wouldn’t be surprised, and if he has got those links then I sure hope he is nothing like Southall.

Also in the statement it was mentioned that Tahnoon Nimer and Matt Southall are no longer involved with the club and we are just waiting on a meeting with The EFL and Paul Elliott will undergo the highly flawed Owners and Directors Test.

Paul Elliott will become the new owner and chairman of Charlton if all these tests go through correctly.
