Paul Benson is just one of the players that Phil Parkinson might still try to bring to Charlton again, despite previous bids being rejected.

Three bid have so far been turned down by Dagenham & Redbridge for the striker, however the 30-year-old could still be one of those that Parkinson tries to bring to SE7. The Addicks boss wouldn’t mention players by name but admits that he’s still looking to strengthen the squad, Parkinson told skysports.com: “I don’t like to talk about players from other clubs, but we have made enquiries regarding several players because we still have some work to do in terms of rebuilding the squad.

“We will continue to do that in the coming weeks and I’d like to bring another couple of players into the mix.”

Parkinson is happy with how things are going so far after back to back League 1 wins (we did lose in the Carling Cup though) and thinks the squad is taking shape but knows we need more bodies to cover suspensions and injuries that hit you as the season goes on, adding: “I’m pleased with the additions we have managed to bring in so far and the squad is starting to take shape, but it’s still not the finished article just yet.

“Obviously, I’m delighted with the way we have started the season, but we need to get more depth in our squad because injuries and suspensions would decimate our ranks later on in the campaign.”
