Parkinson Pre Play-offs

Sorry for my lack of input recently, I’ve not been sulking as we missed out on automatic promotion I’ve been tied up (not literally) with various things. Leeds United winning on Saturday meant nothing else mattered, as it happens had Leeds lost Millwall would have got the second automatic spot despite our 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic.

Swindon Town, who were beaten 3-2 by The Lions will be our semi-final opponents with the first leg at The City Ground on Friday. The play-offs hold no fear from Addicks boss Phil Parkinson who has played in them but not managed a side in them until now, Parkinson told BBC Radio Kent: “I’ve played in the play-offs but I’ve not been involved as a manager.

“So I’m relishing the challenge. An exciting game for me would be 0-0 at Swindon and 1-0 at our place, which I’m sure our supporters would like.

“In the play-offs the quality of the football is at a higher level, but there can be tension. We’re going to Swindon to set our stall out and put in a good performance.”

Neither side has managed to gain the upper hand this season as both games have ended in draws, we snatched a 2-2 draw at The Valley on Boxing Day and managed a 1-1 draw in February at The City Ground.

Swindon are the side that most people wanted so there isn’t going to be much disappointment at this really is there?
