Alan Pardew was left livid after seeing Charlton throw away a 1-0 lead to go down 2-1 at Preston on Saturday afternoon.

Pardew feels that plenty of our players were still living off the 4-2 win over Reading last Saturday and need to up their game, and will be worked hard during the international break, he told Kent Online: “We set our stall out in beating Reading last week and there were more than a few players out there against Preston who should look at their performances because apart from three exceptions we fell well short.

“I’m scratching my head because apart from one change it was the same sides. When we got the goal, we should have pushed on but for some reason we didn’t.

“Preston are a good side but we should have locked them down. We were second best in so many areas, especially in midfield.

“We’ve a free two weeks now and there will be lot of work done on the training ground.

“I’m hoping to being in another defender before the transfer window closes.”

It’s seemed a case of one step forward two steps back for us for too long now hasn’t it!

Indeed. Was a good game but we seem to lose confidence easily. Heads going down to much – not good at all.

Preston are flying though, but not a good result.
