Midfielder plans his future as he nears Charlton exit

|

It’s inevitable that we will be saying goodbye to Joe Ledley this January as he seeks a move closer to home in the final years of his career.

Not only that Ledley is also targeting a return to the Wales squad at Euro 2020 is fast approaching so in all honesty, it’s going to take a miracle for him to get back in the squad especially with who he is rumoured to be joining.

Newport County is the team that is taking Joe’s liking, he was linked with a move there before he came to The Addicks, but Ledley opted to come back to south-east London.

Speaking with BBC Wales Ledley spoke of his future

“There are options, but I’d like to be closer to home. I’ve been away – only for a month – and family comes first for me now.

“Everyone’s moved back to Cardiff for the first time in nine or 10 years so closer to home would be perfect, but for me it’s coming up to the final year so I need to play as many games as I can.

“I’ll never rule it out [playing for Wales] and I’m sure the manager won’t either but it’s down to me now to find a club and play as many games as I can. My boy is two, he’s into his football and he wants to watch me play for my country and at a club as well.”

You can’t blame him for wanting to be closer to his family especially with his career coming to an end soon it will be fitting for him to retire in his home country.

Good luck for the future Joe I hope everything works out!
