Kent Live, reporting Charlton’s interest, has labelled Kayne Diedrick-Roberts as a ‘wonderkid’ but if he was at such a level would Manchester United have released him?

Then again there’s good and there’s Man United good isn’t, so his being released by the Premier League side doesn’t mean Diedrick-Roberts, 18, can’t have a very good future in the game.

Will this be at the Valley? Well, he did undertake a trial with Charlton this season before Man United recalled Diedrick-Roberts, taken to Old Trafford following his release by Fulham in 2015.

Charlton boss Karl Robinson was anticipating Charlton arrivals relatively quickly, as yet no one has arrived, in fact seem close to joining the Addicks? But, could the forward soon become one of them having been released by United?

A player Robinson is desperately keen to retain is Ricky Holmes. In an otherwise poor season, his impressive performances have gained attention but talks are being held that could, if not should, secure him on a new deal shortly – giving him a ‘substantial pay rise’ in the process.

Patrick Thistle’s Liam Lindsay has also been linked with an arrival at Charlton this summer and talks have apparently opened with the defender.

However, the PFA Premiership Team of the Year member, the only player outside of the top clubs in Scotland to make it in, is valued at £750,000. Such a fee wouldn’t be paid to bring Lindsay, 21, to SE7.
