Lee Bowyer hails veteran in latest performance

|

Since he has come in Aiden McGeady has not exactly set the world on fire at Charlton, but on Saturday we got a glimpse of how good he can be, he looked a lot sharper and more ready for a fight, it’s great to see he’s finally putting the effort in because he could be a very important player for us in the fight to stay up this season.

Can you get 12/12 on this Charlton History Quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who was Charlton's first-ever manager?

The Republic of Ireland international started off slow, in the first couple times we saw him, he had a very catchy song in the covered end but the song was not as good as the performances and it was clear to the fans and himself he needed to improve.

It looks like he has been getting his head down and making sure that he works hard, the first game against Hull could be the changing point for his season and hopefully ours.

Lee Bowyer spoke about the 34-year old to The South London Press and here is what he had to say

“Young Albie Morgan, he’s just come back into the frame because he took care of himself. When we were on lockdown, he worked really hard. He looked so much fitter than he did when he left.

“Aiden McGeady, the same. So much fitter than the player we got in January. And he looked good. He’s a threat. Whenever you get the ball in and around the eighteen, he could cause something.”

He did look like a big threat on Saturday, whenever he got on the ball I thought he was going to create something, he had some classy flicks a powerful shot that tipped over the bar and some good passes.

I think he has a lot more to offer than that, I reckon he will get a few assists for us in the next eight games and maybe even a couple of goals, his shooting is very good, he just needs the space to do it in and I think he will find it, he just needs someone who has good vision like Josh Cullen to set him up.

Overall very good performance from him and I hope he can continue.
