Jake Forster-Caskey pledges his loyalty to Charlton

|

Jake Forster-Cakey has penned a new one-year deal at The Valley, the midfielder has had a very tough season making just the one appearance last campaign after an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury which was meant to see him out for the entire season, but he managed to scrape himself into the side.

I am glad to see he has signed back on, from the season before he was a fantastic player and I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do this season. Unfortunately, it was brutally cut short for Jake. Although the injury he had was an extremely serious one, he never let it get him down and he has worked his finger to the bone to get back to where he was.

Speaking to the club’s website after signing his new deal Jake had this to say

“I don’t think there was any doubt that I would sign, so I’m delighted that it’s sorted, the fans have been good to me, especially after the injury, and I’ve always wanted to be here.

“I loved football, but you don’t realise how much you love something until it’s taken from you. Hungry doesn’t describe how I feel going into the new season, I cannot wait, I’m so excited and I just want to give something back to the fans. When you have an injury as I had, you only come back from it if you have a certain mindset and it does change you”

It’s good that we have a player who wants to reward the fans for our loyalty and encouraging words after having an injury like that. We all want nothing but the best for him and he wants nothing but the best for us and the club and it shows. Many players these days don’t have much loyalty, it’s all down to money and all that sort of thing, no one seems to care about what level they could be playing it as long as they get a decent wage packet.

There needs to be more loyalty in football, many could argue that Jake does not really have that much of a choice in the matter, but I’m happy with what he has said it makes us all feel like some players have loyalty in football and I think Jake might be one of them.

As we look ahead to the new season in the Championship I think Jake will be a star player next season for us, who needs Aribo when we got Forster-Caskey?
