Gallen reveals where we are at with Adam Matthews

|

A position we have been hoping to fill up is still close to being rectified as Steve Gallen says that talks are on-going with right-back Adam Mathews.

After a fall from grace for the 27-year-old going from The Premier League to League One in a short space of time, there could be a fresh start on the horizon for the former Celtic man.

Head of Recruitment and Director Steve Gallen told The South London Press about the chances of securing Adam Matthews contract

“We are speaking to Adam Matthews’ agent about doing something. There is nothing concrete yet, but I think we can get some common ground between us.

“If we do that then that will be our last signing. There are a few free transfers about and there is one other right-back, which is not Tyrone Mears.

“There is a will on both sides to do it. It’s just finding that common ground.”

I don’t think Tyrone Mears would have fitted in anyway, he made just seven appearances for West Brom last season and he is 36-years-old so it’s no surprise we are looking elsewhere for a right-back.

I hope we can get Matthews in because I think under Bowyer and the rest of the team he can revive his career at The Valley, he is a good player he just needs decent guidance under him to bring that quality back out in him.
