Prince William was beaten four times during a spell in goal, after telling Charlton’s youngsters to ‘Bring It On’.

Ahead of his appointment as president of the Football Association next May, the Prince joined Charlton for a spot of training during a fact finding tour.

‘I’m not as fit as I thought I was. I should be a lot fitter,’ complained the Prince after completing a warm up jog with players.

‘I really want to try and get more kids involved in football. The power of football is huge and I think it needs to be harnessed and at the same time the sportsman side of football is a key issue to focus on.

‘The image of the FA has its own light. I just want to be helpful and be a contributor. I don’t just want to be a figurehead. I want to help football… and generally support football in every way I can.’

Although William is a more than useful outfield player, he obviously didn’t spend much time in goal whilst at Eton, as he was somewhat red faced after telling boys and girls of Charlton’s award winning community training programme to ‘bring it on’ – and they did, and stuck four past him with relative ease.

The confessed Aston Villa fan was then then barracked by the kids with the chant ‘dodgy keeper’, a popular chant on English terraces questioning a goalkeeper’s ability according to some reports.

I always thought it was ‘you fat…..’, but I can understand the more PC version being employed when facing the future King of England.
