Dulwich manager impressed with Charlton keeper’s loan spell. But whats next for the Australian?

|

Ashley Maynard-Brewer’s loan deal with local side Dulwich Hamlet will come to a close this weekend as they face off against Chippenham Town after an impressive 6-1 win over Bognor Regis in the FA Cup.

Featuring 12 times for The Hamlet the Australian has managed to keep 3 clean sheets in his time down the road and will hope to add a fourth in his final game on Saturday.

Dulwich Cheif Gavin Rose who is currently in his eleventh season at the helm had this to say about Ashley as he spoke with The South London Press

“At the end of the 28-day loan we were in touch with Charlton and they said they were happy with his progress – he had played games – and they were happy to extend it.

“But we have got two capable goalkeepers in Preston Edwards and Charlie Grainger. Charlton probably want to see if they can get him a Conference club to keep his development going and we’ve got ones here who are working hard every day and are capable of filling his boots.”

Sounds like he has done a decent job at Champion Hill, I hope to see more positive reviews coming in for him as his development comes along smoothly as a National League move could be on the cards for him.

Now I don’t know too much about non-league football, but a team like Bromley would be a perfect fit if they was not doing as well as they are right now. The reason I say Bromley is purely down to the location it’s nice and close and we have a decent partnership with them too.

The other two options would be Sutton United or Ebbsfleet United. The Fleet currently sit bottom of the league and might need a better goalkeeper between the sticks to help their goal difference.

Sutton are 13th in the league, but that might be a bit harder to take the number one spot there. Well if Wayne Shaw was still there digging into his pies Ash wouldn’t stand a chance!

A final message from Gavin Rose ahead of Maynard-Brewer’s final game for Dulwich shows that he was a valued asset in the first part of the season

“I thank Ash – he has been great for us since the start of the season but it will be his last game on Saturday. I wish him all the best going forward.

“You never know, he may end up coming back to the club. But as it stands he has done really well and I wish him all the best for his future.”

So where do you think will be best for Ashley to go? Please post your comments in the comment section below!
