Diawara Giving it all That

Don’t you just hate it when former players go squealing to the press? Former Addicks defender Souleymane Diawara has done just that.

He has taken a dig at former Addicks bosses Iain Dowie and Les Reed, maybe fair enough, or is that harsh, as well as current boss Alan Pardew, with him coming in for the most stick: ‘At Charlton, I had three different coaches last year,’ Diawara told the media.

‘First there has been Iain Dowie, then Les Reed and finally Alan Pardew. The two first ones wanted the defenders to play long-ball and direct football in attack.

‘The third one, let’s say that he was?more English style. We had to try to play, but to throw the ball out a lot.

‘It is not like here. There, they do not want to take any risks and say the ball has to be in the other half of the pitch, not in ours.

‘At Bordeaux they ask us to start from the defence and to play. So it is a change and I prefer Laurent Blanc’s methods.’

It is just as well for Souleymane Diawara, who didn’t really set the world alight himself when he was here, that he was allowed to leave the Valley in the summer isn’t it. But I do hate it when players come out with this and that, particularly when it is several months after he’s left.

What is the thought among the Addicks followers on this site on Souleymane Diawara’s comments, and the player in general, what did we really make of him during his time at the Valley? Share these feeling below so we can discuss them.

That was nice of Diawara to share that with us! He had his moment but overall I though the Addicks were well and truly ripped off with the money paid for him.

If he was a legend it would be different, I could accept his critical views more, but he isn’t and was never likely to be.

Oh dear! Maybe some things are best kept for the auto/biorgraphy. Yes, ironic he moans more about the better of the three!!!! Anything to ‘butter-up’ his current manager!!!! Haha!

We was ripped off big time but it was Idiot Dowie who paid it. I thought Diawara was a decent defender he did everything right and it was a blow to lose him. Having said that he is out of order mouthing off but what players don’t these days. Kevin Lisbie thought he should celebrate like he’s won the world cup when he scored against us, afterward he said it was due to some of our fans booing him. zzzzzzz

i think you have to put his remarks into perspective…we were truly awful last season at times…and i understand dowie and reed playing the long ball to our true class player DB…diwara is a great player..and he was exposed in most of his games…no disrespect to the other players..but most of them played like pub players last yr…once Reid was injured we were doomed…and remember this people….THE PAPERS LIE AND MISQUOTE ALL THE TIME!!

hes probably been translated into english from french and they have added a lot to spice it up…i dont blame dia for leaving…but i think he knows that Alan had no choice with his tactics with the lazy squad we had…now look at us…95% new squad and we are third!
