Darren Pratley signs a contract extension

|

It’s getting better and better down in SE7. Unbeaten in the Championship, signing 14 players in the summer, playing some outstanding football recently and now – we’re greeted with this!

Darren Pratley has signed a one year contract extension, keeping the midfielder at the club until June 2021.

The 34 year old joined Charlton on a two year deal last summer and was a vital part of the Addicks’ promotion winning season, scoring four goals and grabbing an assist in 34 appearances.

Pratley was Bowyer’s second signing as a manager and he was quick to announce his excitement with the midfielder signing a new deal: “He’s been outstanding. You can’t buy his experience and he’s great with the young lads. He’s a role model all around the place and deserves to get his extra year. He’s worked hard, I love him, he’s a real pro who has earned it.”

“I’m really pleased” added Pratley. “I really enjoyed last season and felt I was able to help the team on and off the pitch. I’m also really pleased with how we’ve started this season – we’ll work our hardest to keep that up.

“I’d like to thank the manager, Jacko and Steve Gallen for believing in me and giving me an extra year to show what I can do.

“I’m hoping for a good season this year. The competition for places is high and we just want to build on what we were able to do last year.”

Tyler’s Take

I think this is brilliant news for the club. Darren is a very experienced player in the Championship and will be crucial this season in giving us stability and composure in the midfield.

He’s played every game in the league so far and he’s put in some solid performances. However, he’s still very underrated and people don’t realize how good he actually is. He’s such an important player to this squad and he’ll continue to show his class in 2019/20.

Here’s to the next two years Dazza!
