Could Pearce leave Charlton this summer?

|

Whilst speculation surrounding players coming in has started to pick up speed, one man could be on his way out and that is captain Jason Pearce. Pearce has been great this season, but he has been phased out the first-team by Naby Sarr as of late.

THE FACTS

Pearce joined us from the newly promoted Wigan Athletic in 2016 and has been in the team frequently since. A few injuries have knocked him back a few times, but he has managed to come back stronger and stronger.

Jason has been linked with a few clubs, but one that seems more likely than the others is his boyhood football team Portsmouth. Pearce may have unfinished business at Pompey as he was in the Portsmouth youth set up, but he never made a first team appearance until he returned to the club for a year in 2011 making 44 appearances for the blues.

Might be nothing but look at the below tweet.

MY OPINION

To be honest, it is looking likely that he could depart for Portsmouth, it is the club he and his family support and I’m not sure if he fancies it in the Championship. When he was promoted with Wigan in 2016 he decided to stay in League One by signing with us and now it looks like he could be on the way to doing the exact same thing again.

I hope he doesn’t leave because his experience is great to have at the back when Naby is having an off day because he can come in and change the game or make it a lot more stable at the back for us, things like that don’t get seen, like a good play of football does, but we as Charlton fans know the influence Jason has on the team and it would be a big loss to see him go.
