Lee Bowyer gives us an update

|

Lee Bowyer has given us an update on the plans for next season, so it also seems that a contract has been put in place and plans for next season are well underway. Lee has stated that staying in the league will be the main priority for the 2019/20 season as we will have the smallest budget in the league.

If we look back to last season we had one of if not the smallest budget in the league, but did we let it affect us? Of course we didn’t, instead we got promoted so I think if we go in to next season with the same mentality we could surprise a lot of people and we could finish a lot higher up the table, I’m not saying promotion again, but I’m saying we can do a lot better than just staying up.

Lee Bowyer spoke with the South London Press and here is what he had to say

“I think [we could] if we bring in the right person – and it would have to be a young player that we could maybe improve. That’s the only way. I don’t think the owner would let me bring in a 30-year-old – or go and buy one who has no sell-on value, but for a young lad, we might be able to do that”

“The challenge next season – and not a negative thing – has got to be to stay in the league, the challenge this season was to get promotion. It’s not going to be like that now – we’ll have the smallest budget in the league, for sure.”

Looks like behind the scenes Roland has told him he can only buy young players the older and more experienced ones will have to come in on a free. It is a classic Roland move once again, looking to the future to sell on anyone he possibly the can, only bad thing with hearing all of this is that Roland may be looking at a future at Charlton and that is something none of us wants.

Think about it, why would he want Bowyer to only spend money on young players so they have sell-on value? Well, that’s because Roland obviously has no plans to get out of football and everything he is feeding us is a lie, which I’m really not surprised about.

I hope I’m wrong and I really do not want my theory to be correct, sooner Roland is gone the better, but I am very pleased to hear Bowyer is planning for next season it gives us a good amount of hope that he is staying.
