Charlton star issues apology after horrendous display at Middlesbrough

|

There’s no arguing that Saturday’s trip to Middlesbrough delivered a terrible performance from Charlton as George Saville struck early to edge out The Addicks on an afternoon to forget at The Riverside.

Just like he should Captain Jason Pearce has come out with an apology to the fans and speaking with The South London Press Peacey made his feelings known

“On behalf of the players, I thank the fans that travelled up here and apologise for the performance, it obviously wasn’t good enough and they’ve travelled a long away to watch us and support us. We’ll do our best as a team and as a squad to try and put that right on Tuesday. We’ll keep fighting, fighting for the shirt and doing our best.”

I remember the last time something like this happened we lost 5-0 to Huddersfield away and Johnnie Jackson issued an apology to the fans and also refunded their tickets after a horrendous night during our last relegation campaign in the 2015/16 season, unfortunately after that we lost 6-0 against Hull City and you know what’s weird we are playing Huddersfield on Tuesday and Hull on Friday, strange!

The skipper continued on his apology to the fans

“You want to come away from home and stay solid for 15-20 minutes but we conceded after less than a minute. A terrible start and then we just didn’t get going. We weren’t good enough. When we’re playing against any team in this league, you have to win the battle first. I’ve said it before. And we didn’t win the battle. They seemed to want it more than us. We’re massively disappointed.

“It’s not a great start but we still didn’t win the battle. First and foremost, you have to win the battle to win any game. We didn’t. So, we’re not going to get anything out of the game.”

At least he knows that we weren’t good enough, Pearce will continue to be an influential figure in the Charlton set-up especially when he’s coming out and apologising for a1-0 defeat in a fight for survival.

This is the sort of thing you need from your captain after a bad run like what we are having and Pearce continues to be a memorable skipper!
